Democratic Peoples’ Party (DPP) says it is fully prepared to slug it out with other political parties in next year’s general elections especially as the party plans to produce four presidential aspirants together with other contestants aspiring for the state house of assembly seats and national assembly positions.
The Anambra state chairman of the party, Dr. Emma Amaefula, disclosed this to journalists at Neni, Anaocha local government area, during the 2018 edition of Anaoch Day Celebration held at the weekend.
He said the party was building its structures across the state in preparation for the 2019 general elections. Amaefula who noted that DPP was born in 2005, said that the party would field the best presidential candidate for the polls.
The DPP state party chairman further explained that he had deliberations with those intending to contest on the platform of the party to ascertain their level of preparedness to run on the platform of DPP. According to him, his findings show that people coming to contest the general election on the platform of the party are people whose electoral value and relevance place them in good stead to defeat their opponents in 2019.
He said the party was currently mobilising more membership, saying that some political parties in Anambra state had collapsed their structures and joined the DPP stressing that with the current status of the party, there was no cause for alarm even as he stated that the party’s state congress was slated for the 21st of May, 2018.
