Stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina state have unanimously endorsed the 2019 re-election aspirations of President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Aminu Bello Masari.
The unprecedented meeting, which had in attendance most of the stakeholders, including the Governor, his Deputy, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, ranking serving and former federal and state parliamentarians, national and state party officials, federal and state technocrats, also adopted the indirect method for electing flagbearers for the various elective offices for the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
The meeting also agreed to raise money to donate to the President for his re-election campaign.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Masari stated that the stakeholders were invited to the meeting so that everyone would be part of the decision making vis-a-vis the method of the forthcoming APC’s primary elections in the state, assuring that the state will stand by any decision taken at the meeting.
According to the Governor, it is of great importance to have the imprimatur of every stakeholder in adopting the method of electing the party’s flagbearers for the forthcoming 2019 general elections with a view to forestalling future acrimony in connection with the primary elections.
In his address, the Katsina State Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Shitu S. Shitu, stated that members of the business community, under the leadership of business mogul and APC Chieftain in Katsina state, Alhaji Dahiru Bara’u Mangal, had purchased the party’s N22.5 million form for the Governor’s re-election bid.
