Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state has set up a committee to vet candidates who want to fly the party’s flag in the 2019 general elections. The essence of setting up the committee was to ensure that the party carefully scrutinised antecedents and records of candidates to avoid wrong decisions.
State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Grand Alliance [APGA] in Anambra Hon. Chinedu Nkwonta disclosed this to journalists at the party secretariat Awka on Tuesday.
He said the party is not sitting on its oars but poised to guard against traitors and infiltrators who may hide under the cover of the 2019 general elections to come into the party to wreak havoc.
Nkwonta who described APGA as the beautiful bride of the Igbo nation and the country at large, maintained that the governor’s sterling performance in agriculture, infrastructure, education, security and a host of others had attracted more membership to the party especially as more persons seek to pursue their political aspirations on the platform of the APGA.
He expressed optimism that APGA will capture more states come 2019 and extend its stronghold across the federation.
Furthermore, the treasurer of the party in Anambra state Hon. Tony Chukwuemeka Nwakile noted that the party was currently witnessing a large concentration of party faithful due to the achievements of APGA government in the state.
Nwakile explained that APGA is a threat to other political parties and that the coast is clear for it as it is the only political party with genuine intentions for Ndigbo and Nigerians in general.
