2021 Budget: Obiano Made Adequate Provisions For Workers — HoS

Raymond Ozoji, Awka

The Head of Service of the Anambra State Civil Service, Barr. Harry Uduh, says there is certainly no cause for alarm as the year gradually draws to a close to usher in another working year.

Uduh said in spite of the COVID-19 palaver and the EndSARS protests across the country, there was no cause for alarm because the governor had made adequate provisions for civil servants in the 2021 budget.

The Head of Service stated that the governor had continued to pay salaries and other fringe benefits to workers in spite of economic crisis occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic as well as the EndSARS saga.

Uduh who spoke with our correspondent in Awka, pointed out that the federal government couldn’t foot the payment of workers at the federal level including some state governments but Governor Willie Obiano had not disappointed Anambra workers especially as it concerned the prompt payment of their salaries.

Although the HoS noted that workers realised too that the state was facing difficult times, he said they were all expectant that the governor would always come to their aid especially with the Christmas Palliatives.

However, the Head of Service said a lot of items were not implemented this year due to COVID-19  pandemic. He said the governor made adequate provisions in the budget for recruitment of teachers, promotion of civil servants and other salient items in the budget.
