The Deputy Speaker of the 7th legislature of Anambra state Rt. Hon. Dr. Paschal Agbodike says that Ihiala federal constituency deserves better and more result-oriented representation in 2023 especially as it is one of the oldest local government areas in the country.
Agbodike, who stated this in an interview with our correspondent in his office at the state assembly complex Awka, noted that Ihiala is in dire need of roads, good markets, a civic centre, a federal medical centre and a host of other infrastructures the federal government can situate in the area.
The two-term lawmaker who has an eye for the Federal House of Representatives said he is passionate about progressive development in Ihiala especially as it concerns making the council area the centre of attraction in the country.
He also said that as the lawmaker representing Ihiala 2 state constituency in the 7th legislature, he has been able to meet the expectations of the people to merit their prayers, support and endorsements for the Green Chambers where he hopes to redouble his efforts to bestow Ihiala federal constituency a befitting status.
He said evidence abound of his projects and empowerment programmes in Ihiala 2 state constituency and beyond especially in providing lifeline for the rural populace.
According to him, “We carry out talent hunt programmes through sporting activities where we pick the best and sponsor them to stardom. We also provide means of livelihoods through empowerment funds.
“When Azia community were building their town hall, I made a meaningful financial contribution to the building project. I also donated handsomely during the youth empowerment in Azia community.
“When Osumoghu people were furnishing their magistrate court, I contributed meaningfully through their President-General.
“There are dilapidated roads in Lilu community. I took it as a duty and have continued to buy trips of sand to maintain the roads till date coupled with a lot of other things I have done and still doing in my constituency and beyond.”
Agbodike however emphasized the need for all to shun hate speeches and vendetta against anyone as people are free to contest the Federal House of Representatives seat especially from Ebonesie zone, which he said is rightfully theirs to present the next representative judging from the political zoning formula in Ihiala local government area.
He said, “What I encourage our people who want to contest election, should be free to come out and contest. Let us do away with hate speeches capable of bringing problems in our zone.
“Every person in Ebonesie zone is qualified to contest. Already, someone from Azia has declared his intention to contest online. Someone is contesting from Lilu community. Someone is contesting from Osumoghu and some others too. So there is no gathering whatsoever where it is said that Ihiala Federal Constituency seat is micro-zoned to Osumoghu or Ubuluisiuzo. Anything in that regard is a fallacy. “
