The Chairman Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Transport Hon. Patrick Obalum Udeoba says the Ministry of Transport is currently registering any person who wishes to operate airport taxi at the International Cargo and Passenger Airport Umueri, Anambra-East council area of Anambra state.
Udeoba said the coming of the airport has created job opportunities for Anambra citizens; that interested persons for airport taxi operation should find their way to the Ministry of Transport for further details on how to be enrolled.
The lawmaker who represents Anambra-West state constituency in the legislature, said it was a welcome development and that youths should catch in on the golden opportunity to empower themselves as more jobs would emanate from the airport.
According to him, the airport at Umueri would be officially opened to the general public in a couple of months and that business opportunities which would spring up in the area can not be overstressed as many youths would be gainfully employed.
He said regardless of the cynicism and criticism of malignant forces, Governor Obiano did exceedingly well by building the airport for everyone to access including political antagonists, adding that the governor also built two bridges in Anambra-West constituency.
He observed that Anambra state had waited patiently for the Onitsha seaport to become a reality to no avail, until Governor Willie Obiano took the bull by the horn and built the airport at Umueri to ease the difficulties of doing business amongst traders in Anambra and the entire southeast region.
