Aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Anambra state are set to bid farewell to the party following what they termed inconsistencies and irregularities in its internal affairs as well as the selection process for the party’s harmonised primary election thereafter.
Sources in the PDP opined that some of the party’s chieftains from Anambra-South senatorial zone were already in talks with APGA leaders in the zone while others including former House of Representatives member met with critical stakeholders.
It was gathered that PDP leaders from Anambra-South felt that the inability of the party to produce Governor in 2017 was due to internal crisis that rocked the party, and had started to raise its ugly head again.
PDP leaders in the zone are holding talks with APGA stakeholders in the area as they have concluded plans to publicly declare their total support for the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
They held that the sure way power would easily come to the South in 2022 was to support a strong governorship aspirant in APGA.
Meanwhile, it was equally gathered that APGA stakeholders met for possible talks of organising a massive welcome rally for the defectors from PDP.
Also, media adviser to the APGA guber hopeful, Dr Harris Chuma, said his boss was overwhelmed with joy about the show of love and support he enjoyed from the people of Anambra South Senatorial zone.
He said his boss would throw open his campaign office in Awka next week, and would be readily available to welcome the new converts into APGA.
