Anambra APC Confused — APGA Scribe

Raymond Ozoji, Awka
The State Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra, Barr. Tony Ifeanya, says the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state is totally confused as it interpreted Governor Willie Obiano’s curfew order to suit its whims and caprices.
Ifeanya stated that the governor has a duty to make such pronouncements in the best interest of the citizenry irrespective of whether he was in the state or not at the time.
He said because it was an election year, the APC and other opposition elements seemed to politicise every action and decision taken by the ruling APGA in the state.
The APGA scribe, who spoke to our correspondent at the party secretariat Awka, maintained that the APC should bury its face in shame for allegedly igniting crisis across the federation.
He said, “My take is that they don’t know what they are saying. The truth of the matter is that the governor has a right to make a proclamation from any part of the world. The question we should ask is, of what effect is such decision?”
Ifeanya said granted that the governor travelled to the United States of America, he didn’t embark on the said trip for his own personal aggrandizement but for the overall interest of the state and its citizens.
He added, “The Deputy Governor is in the state and government is functioning. There is no lacuna in government. The issue is not the governor making a proclamation from America; the issue is of what purpose is such a proclamation?”
The party secretary emphasized that the curfew declared by the governor was done in order to save lives especially as the world grappled with the harsh realities of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to him, “Obiano was just being a concerned father. He is showing concern for the people he is leading. COVID-19 is ravaging everywhere in the world and in Anambra state we have some cases which need to be nipped in the bud.
“The opposition makes everything an election issue instead of being thankful to the governor for being proactive. APC doesn’t seem to understand their position in Anambra state and the entire Igbo land.  APC doesn’t even know that Nigeria is sitting on a keg of gun power because of their leadership style at the federal level.
“They don’t seem to know that every forest in Igbo land has been attacked by herdsmen and bandits with AK47 and other explosives; killing, raping, and maiming innocent Nigerians from the South-East.
“APC is not doing well and it should hide its face in shame. They are threatening that they want to take over Anambra; who will vote for them? Are they not seeing the religious crisis in Southern Kaduna, Katsina, Maiduguri and other Northern states? They are busy casting aspersions on Governor Obiano who has provided security for all to sleep with two eyes closed.
“The only problem we have in Anambra state is APC and their brothers. They want to open the borders so that Niger, Mali, Chad Republic will troop into Nigeria without any hindrance so that Nigeria will become home for all. The worst that would happen to APC is for this country to disintegrate in their hands. If Nigeria goes into another civil war in their hands, they would have themselves to blame.”
However, Governor Willie Obiano had suspended the said curfew, following a report of considerable compliance to the non-pharmaceutical requirements for coronavirus prevention in the state especially with the rapid increase in the wearing of facemasks in public places.
