The business environment in Anambra state has been described as not very ideal for investors and business owners due to issues of multiple taxation, epileptic power supply and a host of other problematic factors.
Former president of the Awka Chamber of Commerce and Chief Executive of the De Geo-gold Hotels Awka Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu stated this in an interview with journalists shortly after the installation of a new president of Awka chamber of commerce.
He said the atmosphere was not very ideal for businesses to thrive considering daunting challenges but emphasized that they were interfacing with the government through the chamber of commerce to address hindrances confronting businesses in the state.
The hotelier however recommended that government should de-emphasize taxation and encourage investments as a panacea for employment and job creation to reduce the menace of social deviance and touting.
Meanwhile, pastor Stephen Okwudili Nduaguba, the newly installed president of Awka chamber of commerce told journalists that part of his major functions would be to prevail on the state government to create an enabling atmosphere for investments and business expansions.
Nduaguba further disclosed that Awka chamber of commerce would unveil a lot of opportunities to the youths and business men at large while stressing the need for people to go into commercial agriculture as the sector holds a wide range of opportunities and income generation.
