Anambra Commences Demolition Of Badly Sited Filling Stations

Anambra State Physical Planning Board (ANSPPB) has started demolition of badly sited filling stations in the state in order to safeguard lives and property of Ndi Anambra.

Accprding to the state Ministry of Information, a filling station wrongly sited in front of the Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS) roundabout, Onitsha has now been demolished as it was sited within a residential area.

Earlier, the station had been burnt down during a major fire disaster in the city.

The notice for the removal of the station by the state government was given to the owner after the incident that razed it when a petrol tanker fell there.

Gov. Obiano had ordered that the burnt station be forcefully removed as the owner was trying to re-build it instead of removing it as ordered.

In another development, the ANSPPB visited the Ogbo Scrap Nkpor, by the Enugu/Onitsha expressway, where minders were issued last notice to evacuate the place, so as to enable government to work on the erosion site there.

Speaking during the visit, one of the scrap minders, Mr Emeka Nwankwo, commended Gov. Obiano’s administration for their good work in the state.

He, however, pleaded for more time to enable them to evacuate the scraps as directed. (MOI)
