Anambra Constituency Rescued From Herdsmen Attacks

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state has rescued the people of Ayamelum state constituency from the incessant attacks of Fulani herdsmen.

The governor is said to have achieved this through the state commissioner of police Garba Baba Umar who deployed more police personnel to Ayamelum and its environs to checkmate herdsmen menace in the area.

Expressing profound gratitude to Governor Willie Obiano over the tranquil atmosphere that currently pervades Ayamelum, Uche Okafor who represents the constituency, told the reporter that the people of Ayamelum especially farmers go about their normal business of farming without fear of herdsmen invasion.

He also stated that there were more police posts in his constituency at the moment and that no complaint of herdsmen insurgency had got to him since security was beefed up in Ayamelum.

The lawmaker who explained that if not for the timely intervention of the governor following a series of motions he brought to the State House of Assembly concerning several killings and cases of rapes unleashed on his constituents by the marauding herdsmen, Ayamelum constituency would have had the semblance of Benue, Taraba and other states where Fulani herdsmen invaded and slaughtered human beings like animals.

Okafor therefore thanked the governor for restoring peace in his constituency, adding that his people were becoming paranoid over killer herdsmen’s heinous activities in the area while urging the citizenry to support the governor’s policies and programmes of development.
