Anambra Deputy Governor’s Defection To APC Still Hearsay — Obiokoye

…says even Andy Uba knows that the ordinary Igbo voter will not vote for him and APC

Barr. Ifeatu Obiokoye, the special adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on political matters, has said that the alleged defection of the Deputy Governor Dr. Nkem Okeke to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is still hearsay.
Obiokoye said that the Deputy Governor has not made any official statement declaring categorically that he has defected to the APC, stressing that until the Deputy Governor makes an official statement to that  effect, his rumoured defection remains unofficial.
The governor’s aide, who spoke with our correspondent in his office at the Government House Awka, also noted that  not even the media aide to the Deputy Governor has come out publicly in writing to say that the Deputy Governor has left the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the APC.
He said, “The Deputy Governor is brilliant and educated enough to know that there is a process of resignation. So no one writes a love letter and claims it’s official. As I speak with you now, there is no official letter signed by the Deputy Governor that he has left APGA to APC.
“For those who have suddenly found solace in APC because of the election,  there are two classes. The first class I call prisoners of war. Those who have problems with EFCC. Those who have cases pending with EFCC  including some members of the state assembly, some national assembly members.
“The second class of people who defected to the APC are the hungry in spirit. A lot of people do not understand the fundamentals and foundations of the existence of APGA. APGA is not the normal political party. It is a political movement borne out of the spirit that Ndigbo must have their own platform. There is a delibrate attempt by the Igbo of Anambra state to sustain APGA.
“Even Andy Uba recognises the fact that the ordinary Igbo voter will not vote for APC and himself. It is double jeopardy for him. So we are not perturbed by the scheming of defectors.”
