Two Nigerians of Orumba-North origin in Anambra state have been elected new Mayors of the London Borough of Brent and Enfield respectively in the United Kingdom . They are Mr.Ernest Ezeajughi and Dr. Kate Anolue.
Their triumphant entry into the new offices in far away London was made known by the Orumba-North House of Assembly Member-Elect and former council chairman of the area Chief Emeka Aforka.
His commendations were contained in a press release made available to newsmen in Awka yesterday.
Aforka said it was the first of its kind in the history of Orumba-North local government area that indigenes of the council area attained such lofty heights in their respective places of sojourn abroad stressing that the people of Orumba-North indeed valued the feat and would equally lend their support and cooperation.
He however encouraged them to be resolute in the discharge of their new tasks and responsibilities for the peace, stability and prosperity of the United Kingdom.
The legislator-elect said, “I firmly believe that during your term in office, you will use your responsible positions to open many more opportunities for cooperation between Britain and Nigeria in the areas of economy, security, science, innovation, culture, education, environment and many other core areas of need.
“I make bold to say that Ndi-Orumba-North, Anambra state and indeed Ndigbo are proud of your uncommon accomplishments. I therefore appeal to you to be good and worthy ambassadors who would stand firm in the course of discharging your duties and responsibilities to the benefit of all.”
