Anambra Lawmaker Enlivens Constituents… Launches Onitsha-North 2 Talent Hunt

As part of his community development drive as well as his passion to ameliorate the living conditions of his constituents in Onitsha-North 2 state constituency, Hon. Edward Obiefuna Ibuzo has concluded arrangements to organize the maiden edition of his constituency talent hunt show aimed at taking over 3000 youths off the streets. The talent hunt programme otherwise known as his poverty alleviation scheme cum grassroots development is intended to bring youngsters with natural proclivity for arts and crafts to limelight.

Although the programme is the first of its kind in the constituency, Ibuzo maintained that plans are on ground to send youths who distinguished themselves in the competition to Germany and other European countries for professional practice.The lawmaker said that the forthcoming youth programme being single-handedly organized by him is one of the ways he intends to give back to the society as well as show profound appreciation to God for saving his life from untimely death going down memory lane.

Ibuzo who currently represents Onitsha-North 2 state constituency in the 6th Anambra State House of Assembly and also heads the state assembly committee on transport together with membership of other committees, said since his inception and inauguration in 2015, he has kept faith with his humanitarian services in his constituency and beyond irrespective of the political parties they have individual allegiance and affiliations with. He said that the 7 wards of Onitsha-North 2 state constituency have had fair share of his constituency social services most of which were executed with his personal funds and resources just to ensure that he met the expectations and aspirations of his people.

The lawmaker who said that he spent greater part of his life in Germany and other European countries, noted that his sojourn overseas made him appreciate the value for human life which was the remote reason he floated a medical outreach for his constituency upon his return from abroad.

The medical programme, according to him, has saved many souls from untimely death. Ibuzo said since 2015 till the present day, his constituency clinic has been attending to people and treating them of various ailments as well as administering drugs free of charge. Apart from his medical outreach, the lawmaker pointed out that he has equally ventured into capacity building programmes for youths in his constituency.

This according to him made him set up a computer training school where over 100 youths have been equipped with computer skills without paying a penny for it even as he disclosed that start-up grants were also given to the youths to establish their own businesses to carry on with the skills they have acquired in the course of the computer training.

Asked why he was so passionate about the development of human infrastructure, Ibuzo posited that it is the order of the day in developed countries to invest in human beings in order to develop and boost the economy adding that young people constitute the greater percentage in the pursuit of a virile and vibrant economy. He pointed out that his desire to empower the youths of Onitsha-North 2 state constituency  for the future knows no bounds.

He said it is for this reason he conceived the idea of a talent hunt programme as a veritable platform to discover untapped talents to harness, groom as well as nurture them to stardom. The lawmaker opined that there are lots of talents languishing in solitude due to what he described as bad governance but because of his desire to empower and equip the younger generation for the future, he took the bull by the horn to organize the talent hunt show for his constituency irrespective of its capital intensive nature.

He said the programme consists of two categories viz secondary school  students and students of institutions of higher learning respectively from Onitsha-North 2 constituency even as he said that he has had interactions with some groups and corporate bodies in Germany and other countries in Europe and America for more mentorship on those that would be flown abroad for professional experience on their talents and skills.

Ibuzo therefore called on youths in Onitsha-North 2 constituency to avail themselves of the opportunity of the forthcoming maiden edition of the talent hunt programme to turn their fortunes around for good as well as leave their footprints in the sands of time.
