Raymond Ozoji, Awka
Hon. Chief Emeka Aforka, the legislator-elect for Orumba-North state constituency in the incoming 7th legislature has constituted needs assessment committees that would embark on a fact-finding mission to all the communities in the council area to obtain first hand information on the most pressing needs of the people.
Aforka stated that the essence of the needs assessment committees was to dig deep to ascertain what the constituents of Orumba-North expect from their representative in the State House of Assembly.
Speaking in Awka at the weekend, the two-time chairman of Orumba-North local government area told journalists that he made promises to his people during his electioneering that he would take instructions from his constituents in order to meet their expectations and aspirations stressing that he was not going to the state assembly to represent himself.
He said the people of Orumba-North have bestowed the mandate on him to do things differently and that his committees would swing into action and traverse the entire constituency to identify and compile felt-needs of the people for onward presentation to the 7th assembly.
The legislator-elect maintained that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued him Certificate of Return which according to him was a clear evidence that the election that brought him into office was supervised and certified by the commission. He pointed out that he would draw up a time-table for a thank-you tour of the communities to express profound gratitude to the people for the show of affection and massive support for his political ambition.
Aforka further disclosed that he was committed to the promises he made to his constituents, saying “I am totally committed to any statement or promises I made during the period of campaigns. I will never renege on them.”
He also disclosed that he has been in the executive arm of government over the years and has equally garnered enough experience to function properly in the legislative arm while assuring his constituents that his presence in the 7th assembly would translate into more democracy dividends.
