… to mitigate herdsmen attacks
Raymond Ozoji, Awka
Ayamelum local government area of Anambra state is to boost agriculture through mechanised farming.
Chairman of the council area Hon. Ken Okolo disclosed this to the reporter shortly after the renewal of appointment of transition committee chairmen at the state assembly complex Awka.
The council boss observed that the cost of farming was becoming too high for farmers in the area thereby making commercial agriculture unrealiseable.
Okolo however pointed out that his administration would assist farmers in Ayamelum to improve on their yield especially as it concerns procurement of tractors as well as other farm implements to encourage farmers in the area.
He equally posited that the council authority would help protect farmers from the invasion and menace of herdsmen noting that the council authority was working with the Anambra State Joint Security Committee on Cattle Menace to secure farmers and protect their farmlands from cattle menace.
