Anambra Records Least Applicants In Police Recruitment

Raymond Ozoji, Awka

Anambra state is said to be the state with the least applicants in the entire south east region in the on-going police recruitment exercise scheduled to end on 6th June, 2018.

Speaking with our correspondent at the police headquarters Awka, the Police Public Relations Officer Princess Nkiru Nwode  said that from the records  Anambra has 1,117 applicants.

She said Abia has 1,589 candidates; Ebonyi has 1, 303 applicants; Imo has 2, 603 applicants while Enugu has 2, 359 applicants.

According to her, from the records, it appears that people abhor police jobs in the state; thereby urging youths to take up police recruitment and be diligent in dealing with the public.

She also disclosed that due to the lapses in Anambra quota, there seemed to be tendency for applicants to falsify documents to claim indigenes of Anambra state, noting that an applicant who claimed to hail from Anambra state was spotted to have no single document indicating that he was a native of Anambra state during screening.

The Police Public Relations Officer however emphasized that the recruitment exercise was intended to get the best qualified people to fill the vacant 6,000 positions of police constables approved by the federal government.
