Anambra Set To Fight Open Defecation

Mr Victor Ezekwo, Programme Manager, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA) in Anambra has expressed willingness to combat open defecation in the state.

Ezekwo made the pledge in Awka while interacting with newsmen.

He said that Gov. Willie Obiano Administration was committed to ensuring improved healthy living standards of the people in the state.

Ezekwo added that government had already achieved 90 per cent access to water supply, and 85 per cent access to sanitation in Awka North and South as well as Aguata Local Government Areas.

The manager said that government was able to record many achievements under the joint partnership with UNICEF.

He said the government would ensure payment of counterpart funding of 309 million representing 30 per cent, while UNICEF would pay N750million or 70 per cent of the project cost.
