Anambra To Investigate Violation Of Border Closure With Delta

Anambra State Government has identified security challenges as a major hindrance towards effective control of its boundary with Delta State at Head Bridge, Onitsha.

Leader of the State’s Enforcement and Monitoring team, Dr Christian Madubuko, told newsmen in Onitsha, that government would investigate an apparent porous nature of the border.

“We are gradually taking some stocks to identify why it is happening and then, seek solutions.

“We are checking the movement of people, but unfortunately I am surprised that people are trooping in here. The reason why they are trouping in, I do not know. There are people stationed to control movement,’’ Dr Madubuko observed.

The State Commissioner for Transport, then, urged security operatives deployed to enforce government’s border closure to be alive to their duties as the order was in the best interest of Ndi Anambra.

He, however, expressed satisfaction at the level of compliance and surveillance at Uga border with Imo State, Omasi border with Enugu State as well as Ihite another border with Imo State.

Transition Committee Chairman, Aguata Local Government Area, Mr Eche Ezeibe, attributed the high level of compliance recorded in the area to existing synergy between LG personnel and security operatives. (MOI)
