The First Information Report of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra dated 25th November, 2020 revealed that thirteen people sustained varying degrees of injuries in a serious accident which occurred at Okija, Ihiala local government area of the state.
The accident report further disclosed that FRSC rescue team from Ihiala unit command were on ground for rescue operations and thereafter took the injured victims to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Ihiala for prompt medical services.
The sector commander of the corps in the state CC Andrew Ayodele Kumapayi in the First Information Report extended his sympathy to the victims of the crash as well as prayed for their quick recovery from the pains of the unfortunate incident.
Kumapayi however advised motorists to shun over-speeding but maintain stipulated speed limits and most importantly, observe lane discipline while on the highways, stressing that road mishaps were avoidable.
The sector commander’s First Information Report on the Okija crash as released by the Ag.Public Education Officer RC.Kamal Musa reads thus: ” On 25th November, 2020, thirteen (13) people got injured in a serious crash involving a white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number SSM 880 ZJ and a Toyota sienna Space bus with registration number GEA 29 AW which occurred at Okija, along Ihiala-Onitsha road.
“According to eyewitnesses, a total of Thirteen (13) people consisting of (8) Male adults and (5) female adults who were involved in the crash sustained varying degree of injuries and were rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala by FRSC rescue team from Ihiala Unit Command. Road obstruction was cleared by the combined team of FRSC and NPF.”
