Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, a member of the Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has condemned an alleged sponsored protest by some irate youths to assassinate the character and person of Sen. Victor Umeh.
Ezeonwuka said such protest against one whom he described as the life-wire of APGA was to all intents and purposes baseless and a delibrate attempt to ruin the image and reputation of Sen. Umeh whom he said had worked hard to keep APGA alive as a political party in Nigeria.
The APGA chieftain who spoke with our correspondent yesterday via a telephone interview noted that the former national chairman of the party contributed in no small measure in the making and growth of the APGA, stressing that rather than vilify the man whom he said produced ex-governors Peter Obi, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and Chief Willie Obiano respectively, the party should be grateful to him for his stoicism, intrepidity, duggedness and sacrifice.
He further disclosed that it was the former national chairman of the party that took Governor Obiano through the length and breath of Anambra state during his re-election campaign as the DG of his campaign organization and told Ndi-Anambra of the dire need for them to re-elect Obiano for a second term in office.
The APGA BOT member who equally doubles as the spiritual leader of the Igbo nation as well as the Chairman and Chief Executive of Rojenny Games Village Oba, Idemili-South council area of Anambra state, said the sponsor(s) of the purported protest against the former APGA national chairman would meet their waterloo before long.
He however posited that nobody or group should destroy APGA and that aggrieved members of the party should resolve their differences without rancour as APGA remains the identity of the Igbo nation.
Also Ezeonwuka sought the platform of the interview to fete the new police commissioner to Anambra state, CP John Abang, as well as charged him to consolidate on the gains of Governor Willie Obiano’s security feat in the state while extolling the efforts of the outgoing DC OPS Mike Okoli who he said did wonderfully well in crime-bursting in Anambra state even as he also welcomed the new DC OPS. He pointed out that Anambra state needs fearless police officers.
