APGA Members Who Sabotaged Soludo’s Gov Ambition Can’t Be Chairman — Obi-Okoye

By Raymond Ozoji,  Awka
As the contest for the chairmanship position of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra state draws closer, Chief Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, who is aspiring to be the next APGA state chairman, has announced his plans and intentions to reorganise and redirect the party towards a more profitable end.
Obi-Okoye who outlined lofty ideas to be explored for new opportunities and innovations for the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Anambra state, recalled that some dramatis personae who allegedly worked against APGA to scuttle Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s gubernatorial ambition in connivance with opposition elements, cannot be in the leadership of the party at the state level because of their questionable characters.
He said, ” The leadership of the party is very much aware of this story. We knew those who played very vital roles in making sure that Soludo was disqualified from the governorship race.”
According to him, followership  and  mentorship are very strong factors in politics and politicking. He said reliability and trustworthiness are inevitable ingredients too. He recalled that ex-Governor Willie Obiano told him as the Special Adviser on Political Matters that they have a governorship candidate in the person of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
From that point, henceforth, he began to work for the election of Prof. Soludo who is currently the state governor. He recalled too that the former governor convened a meeting of the state executives of APGA to intimate them of the candidacy of Prof. Soludo but some of them who were not in support of Soludo’s candidacy including one who is now aspiring to be the state party chairman, became dissidents and joined opposition parties to frustrate Soludo’s candidacy.
Obi-Okoye said, “That conspiracy against Soludo cost us a lot in litigation. From Kano to Court of Appeal and to Supreme Court.
“To brief somebody like Olanipekun cost us about N100 Million including flights, hotel bills and others. It really cost us a lot.
“So the party is very much aware of that and I can assure you that characters like that can never take the leadership of this party. We know them and we know the role they played to destroy Soludo’s governorship ambition.
“It’s so unfortunate that people have short memories; that barely a year ago, you ganged up with opposition insisting that Prof. Chukwuma Soludo will not be governor of Anambra state. Today, you want to be the state chairman of the party where Prof. Soludo is the national leader.
“It’s totally immoral and against the constitution of our party. We will not allow that to happen.”
