APGA National Chairmanship Tussle: Court Restrains Njoku

An Abuja High Court has restrained one Edozie Njoku from further parading himself as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The court also restrained APGA as a party, from recognising the said Njoku as its National Chairman, until the determination of the substantive suit.

The court also granted accelerated hearing to the substantive suit in view of the facts and circumstances of the matter to be tried.

A Senior Counsel, Victor Agunzi, had on behalf of his client, Dr Victor Oye, urged the court, presided over by Justice OC Agbaza to grant the reliefs sought by his client.

This was contained in a 30 paragraph affidavit, deposed to by Dr Oye.

The matter had arisen as a result of the National Congress of the party on May 31, at which Dr Oye was overwhelmingly returned as the National Chairman by the delegates.

The congress, which was held at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka, had delegates from all 36 states of the federation, including the FCT, as well as those from The Diaspora.

The matter has since been adjourned to Oct. 23 for hearing. (MOI)
