Bad Roads: I Now Park My Vehicle In Church Compound – Anambra Lawmaker Laments

Raymond Ozoji, Awka

It was such a pathetic tale as Hon. Chukwunonso Noble Igwe, the lawmaker representing Ogbaru one state constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, narrated his ordeals trying to access the inaccessible roads in his area.

The conditions of roads in his constituency has resulted in the parking of his official vehicle in a church compound in the area because he could no longer access his residence with his car due to the very deplorable state of roads in Ogbaru one state constituency.

Igwe who stated that his constituents were going through hell on a daily basis because of the poor conditions of roads, emphasized that there was no single road in Ogbaru one constituency.

He explained that he had moved a motion on the floor of the state assembly calling on Governor Willie Obiano to direct the commissioner for works to embark on an immediate repair of the Ojoto-Ede road in Okpoko community as his constituents earnestly awaited repair works on the said road because it was the only road that connected the entire constituency.

The lawmaker said, “My people are going through hell on daily basis. We are suffering when it comes to the issue of roads. We have very bad roads in Ogbaru one constituency; mostly in Okpoko community. We don’t have any good roads in Okpoko entirely.

“Ojoto-Ede road plays a major role in connecting the entire Ogbaru one constituency and it is in a very deplorable state. We go through hell on daily basis trying to use the roads.

“I no longer take my car to my House. I now park my car in the church because I cannot access my place of living. So Ojoto-Ede road is very dear to us and it is less than 1.5 kilometers. We are begging the governor to hear our cry and come to Okpoko to do just 1.5 kilometer road.

“Sometime ago some people did a mock commissioning of Ojoto-Ede road; they were mocking the governor because the road is in a very bad shape and impassable.”
