‘Buhari Is A Pretender’

The Director-General Atiku/Obi Presidential Campaign Committee in Anambra state Dr. Harry Oranezi has said that president Muhammadu Buhari is not a democrat but pretending to be one following the purported endorsement of his candidacy by the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

He said the core democrats of the SDP could not endorse the president because he had no respect for the rule of law and separation of powers and that he did not believe in democracy as a system of government.

Oranezi who spoke with select journalists at the campaign office in Awka at the weekend, noted that the endorsement of president Buhari by a faction of the SDP did not in any way represent the position and opinion of the true democrats of the party describing the endorsement as political makeshift.

He also stated that Governor Willie Obiano’s support for Buhari was a mere political gimmick stating that the governor was a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and that the party equally has a presidential candidate.

The DG Atiku/Obi Presidential Campaign Committee said that he had not heard that APGA had dropped her presidential candidate for another describing the governor’s activities as anti-party pointing out that the PDP in Anambra was more concerned about delivering 90 percent of votes for Atiku and Obi in the state.

Although he explained that the constitution of the land guaranteed freedom of speech and association and that the Governor of Anambra state was free to cast his vote for president Buhari, he said Ndigbo and indeed Anambra people would vote massively for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi as he believed that the duo would enthrone equity and justice in the Nigerian polity.

Oranezi also pointed out that the presidential campaign committee was not interested in how any person ran his anti-party activities but was more focused in delivering their candidates, stressing that anyone who worked against Atiku/Obi presidential ambition, worked against the interest of Ndigbo.

He said the idea of president Buhari adding one more state to the southeast region was akin to a situation where a plot of land was sold to two persons simultaneously noting that the same president who assured the southeast of an Igbo president in 2023 also promised the southwest of handing over power to the region in 2023.

The campaign DG however boasted that only Atiku Abubakar could guarantee more states for the southeast geo-political zone. He also disclosed that president Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) lied to Nigerians about the restructuring mantra which he observed was one of the things that gave the APC edge in 2015 even though the party denied it as soon as they assumed leadership of the country.

He said only Atiku has been very consistent about restructuring Nigeria and determined to restructure the entire nation if elected president.
