President Muhammadu Buhari has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary held in Anambra state at the weekend.
From the results collated from the 21 local government areas and read out by the Returning Officer Prof. Ikemefuna Uzochukwu at Old English hotel Awka at the weekend, President Buhari polled a total number of 248, 368 valid votes to win the presidential primary in Anambra state.
The Returning Officer who announced the results of the election said that after collation from all local governments, the total number of accredited voters was 248, 468 and that the total number of votes cast for president Buhari was 248, 368.
According to the Returning Officer, the total number of invalid votes was 100. He added that the result of the primary election was to certify that president Muhammadu Buhari having scored the highest number of votes cast is decalred winner in Anambra state.
The representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Department for State Security (DSS)and the Police all had copies of the election results.
Meanwhile, Minister for Labour and Employment as well as agent of President Buhari in the presidential primary Dr.Chris Nwabueze Ngige expressed satisfaction at the conduct of the primary, stressing that the number of votes cast for the president was a testimony of what to expect in February next year.
The labour minister explained further that the outcome of the primary was an indication that the people of Anambra state would do more to ensure that President Buhari is returned for another term of office.
Ngige however expressed profound gratitude to Anambra citizens for believing in the policies and programmes of the Buhari administration as showcased in the votes cast for the president in the just concluded presidential primary in Anambra state.
