Christmas: APC, APGA Preach Love, Self-Sacrifice

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has felicitated with Christians and all Nigerians on the joyous occasion of Christmas which commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu, the APC said, “As we gather with family and friends for the Christmas festivities which is characterised by gift-giving, social gatherings and feasting, we should remember and extend love and generosity to the less-privileged around us.

“We should also emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ exemplified by self-sacrifice.”

The Party calls on Nigerians to use the joyous occasion to pray for our leaders and the peace, progress and socio-economic development of the country.

In a related development, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ozonkpu Dr. Victor Ike Oye, has called on all Nigerians to show love and tolerance to one another at Christmas.

In a statement in Abuja today, Dr. Oye said that Nigeria could only make progress when “We radiate love, forgive one another and tolerate one another in a most altruistic manner”.

He said that lack of genuine love among Nigerians had fuelled the current state of insecurity and retrogression that had pervaded our land.

“As we gradually draw closer to the 2019 general election, there is an urgent need for introspection among the Nigerian political elite about the need to imbibe the spirit of love, tolerance, sportsmanship before, during and after the election,” he advised.

He called on the security agencies to be proactive in tackling crimes, especially during this festive season to ensure that our people enjoyed the Christmas and New Year with minimal discomfort.

Dr. Oye appealed to all APGA members across the country to stick together and work for peace and progress in the party so that all the good things God had designed for the party would come to fruition.

He thanked them for their sacrifices and prayed God to bless them and keep them safe throughout the festivities and beyond.
