The council chairman of Anaocha local government area of Anambra state Engr. Ikeobi Ejiofor says his administration is currently constructing what he called Anaocha Heritage Centre at the local government secretariat Neni.
Ikeobi said the idea of a heritage center for the people of Anaocha was borne out of the 2018 Anaocha Day Celebration held recently at the local government event arena where all indigenes of Anaocha home and abroad converged to celebrate the rich culture and tradition of Ndi-Anaocha.
He said when completed the heritage center would serve as a monument and symbol of unity that would remind the people of their ancestry and heritage especially as Anaocha local government area is transiting from a mere rural setting to a semi-urban environment.
Ikeobi however maintained that his administration has been able to attract more meaningful projects to the local government. The council boss said that apart from constructing a heritage center, his government has also revamped the entire local government, pointing out that in the education sector, the local government is empowering as well as equipping schools with teaching and learning aids and also developing infrastructures in schools in terms of furnishing classroom blocks.
He said that in the health sector, the local government has been able to construct about four primary care centres and equipped them. In the agric sector, the chairman said he has revived the sector as well as received recognition as best agric-friendly local government area.
According to him, in the area of human capacity development, youths have been empowered with requisite skills and that the council area has about three skills development centres where youths acquired various vocational training for self-development and self-reliance pointing out that the vocational centres were situated at Nri, Adazi-Nnukwu and Agulu respectively.
The Anaocha council boss noted that each of the 10 communities has two water borehole facilities and currently constructing motorised borehole facilities at Amorji village Agulu; reconstructing administrative block of Ojiakor Memorial secondary school Adazi-Nnukwu as well as remodeled Afor- Agulu market and also reconstructing Adazi-Enu markets.
He said Governor Willie Obiano has done well in road construction in Anaocha but lamented that the area needed more road networks and other infrastructure for rapid development.
