State publicity secretaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have joined other well-meaning Nigerians to sympathize with President Muhammadu Buhari over the death of his Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari.
The APC image makers expressed their sympathy in a condolence message signed by the acting chairman of the group and state publicity secretary in Anambra, Mr. Okelo Madukaife.
The condolence message reads, “The Conference of All Progressive Congress State Publicity Secretaries (CAPS) expresses profound condolences to President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the federal government of Nigeria, the Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umaru Zulum, MNI ,and the family of the late Chief of Staff to the President, Alhaji Abba Kyari, who lost a long-drawn battle with COVID-19.
“We commiserate with the president, respective governors of relevant states and families of 16 others who have lost their lives in Nigeria to this unique plague that the world is faced with at this time, and particularly the 51-year old medical doctor who lost his life while saving another.
“We wish God’s blessings on their souls and hope that their passing away will provide a tonic for Nigeria, acting by itself or in league with the world to find a cure that will arrest this scourge the world over.
“Our thoughts are with their families and extend to all families making huge economic sacrifices in their economic life, by staying indoors and cutting living standards, to halt the spread of the COVID 19 causative agent, Corona Virus.
“Our heroes of the moment remain our health workers, living and dead who remain in the front line with limited protection of the type available elsewhere in the world, but remain undaunted and are recording many recoveries at great risks. We urge a collective thought and action plan to better their lot. Their sacrifices will not go unrewarded.
“On our part as CAPS, we remain committed to inputting our level best towards managing this difficult situation, both in states where our great party, APC is in government and where we are in opposition.
“It is our hope that these modest efforts will gain recognition and strike the right chord in deserving places.
“We pray God for the repose of the souls of the deceased, look forward to their safe and timely burial arrangements and challenge the respective governments in all three tiers to take concrete steps to ensure that those who died did not die in vain.”
