Education Board Shortlists 421 Candidates For Test In Aguata

In compliance with recent job advertisement for primary school teachers, the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) has shortlisted candidates for proficiency test.

Anambra Government announced recently that it will engage 1,000 teachers, 500 each for primary and secondary schools.

In Aguata Local Government Area (LGA), the names of 421 candidates were shortlisted for the test scheduled for March 10.

Those shortlisted were released on March 8, by the Education Unit, Aguata.

This information is contained in a letter titled ‘Notification on Recruitment Examination’ dated  March 7, addressed to The Education Secretary, Aguata LGA and signed by Board Secretary, ASUBEB Awka, Lady Vivian Anyadubalu.

The letter added that names of candidates, who applied for post primary education, had yet to be released.

Anyadubalu said that successful candidates from Aguata would sit for their proficiency examination at Community Secondary School, Oko.

She directed that information should reach all concerned candidates on or before March 9 as the examination would hold on the March 10.

It was gathered that candidates trooped out in their numbers at the education unit in search of their names in the list released.

While some candidates expressed joy as they were successful, others appeared sad as their names were not among the shortlisted.

One of the candidates, whose name appeared, Miss Agatha Ezeador, a Mathematics graduate from Ikenga said: “I am happy. I didn’t even know that names have been pasted’’.

She said a friend called to inform her about it. “I came to this place now and saw my name on the list.

“I pray God to be with me on examination day because it is the outcome of the examination that will determine those to eventually get the job’’.
