The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) says it would collaborate with the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Police and other security agencies to ensure safety and security during the Easter celebrations.

Sector commander of the commission in Anambra state Mr.Sunday Michael Ajayi disclosed this to journalists at the commmission’s headquarters in Awka, the Anambra state capital.

He said following the collaboration with other security agencies, there would be no cause for alarm as the commission was poised to ensure sanity on the highways due to increase in human and vehicular movements because of the Easter holiday.

The sector commander also pointed out that as part of its routine duty, the commission has equally embarked on public enlightenment, meeting with fleet operators to educate them on the need to prevail on their drivers to comply with traffic regulations as well as handle passengers with utmost care and caution while on the highways this Easter season and thereafter.

Ajayi further disclosed that the commission would increase its presence on the highways especially at flashpoints where the commission suspects traffic gridlock emphasizing that the commission will have robust enforcement during the Easter celebrations.

The Anambra FRSC boss who advised members of the public to report traffic congestions, obstructions and other impediments to traffic flow, warned that whoever contravened traffic regulations would be held culpable and made to face the consequences of violating the law.
