…as Obiano commissions street light at Isuofia
Gov. Willie Obiano has restated his resolve to light up some select streets in every town in Anambra State before the end of his administration.
The governor said this while inaugurating 4km stretch of street lights at Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area (LGA), as well as 40km stretch at Nnewi, covering four towns.
He noted that already about 100 km of light had been achieved in three senatorial zones.
Gov. Obiano explained that technical construction of street lights would be done in erosion prone areas to raise the basement against flooding.
He maintained that the administration would always deploy necessary measures to promote socio-economic life of the people.
A former Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo from Isuofia, said that Obiano introduced street lighting project to promote the economy of the state.
Soludo noted that construction of street lights were major tenets of development, as it would encourage night trading and other commercial activities.
Commissioner for Utilities, Mr Obi Nwankwo, pointed out that the present administration had completed the first and second 100 stretches of street lighting, saying the third phase had since commenced across the state.
Nwankwo added that the state government was determined to provide life aiding facilities and ensure financial stability of the state. (MOI)
