As Lagosians all over the world mourn the death of a former Senator and a prominent Lagos indigene, Pa Hassan Babatunde Fashinro, who passed away yesterday, popular Lagos monarch, the Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, has described the passing of Pa Fashinro has a great loss to Lagos and Nigeria, describing the deceased as father and pillar of support.
In a message from the Elegushi’s Palace, Oba Elegushi said Pa Fashinro as one of the founding fathers of modern Lagos, charted the course for a modern city, which became the rallying point for all people, across all tribes and religions in the country, adding that it is to the credit of Pa Fashinro and his generation that Lagos, today, has become the bedrock of social, economic and political development on which the country is measured.
Oba Elegushi said having lived to glorious age of 99, late Pa Fashinro has ended well, having contributed over 60 years of his life to the service of humanity through the various positions he held in public, social and religious charities and organizations he was involved with.
The monarch commiserated with the Fashinro family, as well as the Government and people of Lagos State, while praying for the repose of the soul of the illustrious Lagosian.
