Hold APC Responsible For Burning Of INEC Materials In Anambra — PDP Chieftain

Raymond Ozoji, Awka

Anambra State Campaign Director of the Atiku/Obi Presidential Campaign Organization Dr. Harry Oranezi has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their collaborators in Agu-Awka  should be held responsible for the burning of INEC materials at the state headquarters Awka.

The Campaign Director made the position of the organization known at a press conference held at the campaign office Udoka Estate Awka on Wednesday.

He said that the Anambra State PDP Presidential Campaign Organization had also warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to postpone the presidential election in Anambra state.

Oranezi further alleged that the ruling APC government and their collaborators in the state had been working to sabotage INEC from carrying out her constitutional mandate in Anambra state.

He pointed out that the deliberate resort to burning of burning INEC materials in Anambra state in order to force the commission to postpone Anambra election as well as have the election in isolation from other states would be resisted by informed citizens and all lovers of democracy.

The PDP chieftain maintained, “Do we still ask where to look to when the desperation of APC in cohorts with some elements in Agu Awka shows that they are clearly on a mission to sabotage INEC so as to stop the Atiku/Obi-led PDP ticket from receiving the expected overwhelming votes from Anambra voters.”

He further explained that the citizenry would resist every attempt to postpone the presidential election in the state stressing that it was obvious that the citizenry want to produce a new government at the centre that would profer solutions to what he saw as the on-going economic difficulties in the country with their permanent voter cards.

The Campaign Director however reiterated the fact that APC elements mulling the shift of the election in Anambra state should be adequately informed that INEC as an electoral umpire should have coñtingency plans to cater for whatever effects of burning INEC materials must have caused the commission without postponing the election date in Anambra state.

The PDP Presidential Campaign Organization therefore called on the security agencies to rise up and protect the nation’s institutions of democracy from those the campaign director described as anti-democratic elements.

Also in another development more than five hundred members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) from Anambra-central senatorial zone have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party and pledged total support for the Atiku/Obi presidential ticket.
