How Soludo Emerged Winner Of APGA Gov Primary Election

The atmosphere was peaceful and congenial at Prof.Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre Awka as delegates from the 326 political wards of the state filed out according to their local government areas to cast their votes secretly for the aspirant who will become the party’s candidate for the November 6 governorship election later in the year.
Governor Willie Obiano; national officers of the party led by the Vice Chairman Southwest Mr. Sampson Olalere; INEC delegation led by Musa Husunu and a host of other very important personalities were on ground to attest to the peaceful conduct of the election.
Chairman of the five-man election panel who also doubled as the Vice Chairman of APGA Southwest zone, Dicken Sampson Olalere said the whole process was orderly judging from the conduct of accreditation for delegates to the actual voting process.
Olalere noted that the accreditation exercise showed that APGA was a disciplined political party and that the panelists ensured that there was no rancour and no confusion during the exercise.
He however commended Governor Willie Obiano for providing an enabling environment for the primary election; assuring also that there would be no discrimination and no shortchanging of any kind even as he mentioned that the officials of INEC were indeed very impressed with the conduct of the delegates.
Total delegates 812, total accredited delegates 795, total number of votes cast 792,  41 votes for Okwudili Ezenwakwo,  4 votes for ThankGod Ibeh, and 7 votes for Chief Damian Okolo, 740 votes for Soludo and Soludo was declared winner by the Chief returning offer Dicken Sampson Olalere.
Meanwhile, Governor Obiano declared the primary election as very exceptional while commending the National Working Committee of the party for a peaceful and transparent election.
Winner of the primary election Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo accepted his nomination as the candidate of APGA for the forthcoming governorship election.
