The Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Internally Generated Revenue and member representing Nnewi-North state constituency in the 6th Legislature Hon. Amalachukwu Kenneth Anazodo has said that he abandoned his second term aspiration for peace to reign supreme in Nnewi-North local government area.
He said the decision to jettison his second term ambition to the State House of Assembly came at the 11th hour when some characters he described as selfish people thwarted the decisions of Nzukora Nnewi to frustrate his ambition.
Anazodo who spoke with our correspondent at his country home in Nnewi-North council area, said he was not part of the primary election conducted in his constituency because he was schemed out of the entire process by some selfish persons who believed they could reverse the decisions of the people to feather their own nest.
The lawmaker recalled that there was a rotational agreement they had about the State House of Assembly seat for Nnewi-North constituency for 16 years but the new executives of Nzukora Nnewi according to him, felt such agreement was not in the best interest of the people of Nnewi-North.
He said the new executives of the town union amended the constitution of the town and adopted the amendment as a working document which provided for two tenures of 8 years in the state assembly.
This according to him was the current position of Nzukora Nnewi but the lawmaker posited that due to selfish interest, some people in the constituency prevailed on the town union executives to retract their decision, pointing out that posterity would judge the whole process.
Anazodo maintained that 85% of Nnewi-North people wanted 8 years in the State House of Assembly but lamented that a few people with vested interest thwarted and truncated the decision taken unanimously by the people of Nnewi-North.
Although the lawmaker said he was not a desperate politician, as he was not prepared for any form of unhealthy struggle, he noted with certainty that the people of Nnewi-North would regret the decision they took against him in the long run.
