Hon.Valentine Anyika, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia federal constituency has expressed his commitment to pay priority attention to educational development in his federal constituency.
Anyika who defeated the incumbent lawmaker Hon. Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo, said one of the remote reasons he would give utmost priority to education was that he had resolved to issue a permanent red card to a situation whereby a child would be unable to pay WAEC fees in his federal constituency.
The former House of Assembly representative for Njikoka 1 state constituency who spoke with journalists at the INEC collation centre Abagana in Njikoka council area of Anambra state, explained further that he intended to have a statistical data of the number of secondary schools in his federal constituency to enable him to prioritize his educational programmes as it concerns addressing their most pressing needs. He stressed that he would set up committees to identify the fundamental needs of schools in his constituency.
Another salient issue he raised was oversight functions. According to him, as the lawmaker representing Anaocha Njikoka Dunukofia federal constituency at the national assembly, he would ensure that standards were maintained during contract execution, pointing out that he would ensure that there were no plethora of abandoned projects in his federal constituency even as he assured his constituents that his presence would be felt at the Green Chambers upon inauguration.
Anyika however told journalists that his electoral conquest was a victory for the people of Anaocha Njikoka Dunukofia federal constituency noting that the collective will of the people was of paramount importance. He said he would also felicitate with his opponents for having keenly contested with him as well as galvanise them for the overall interest of the constituency.
