Executive Governor of Sokoto State and presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has said that his mission to the presidency is to rescue the entire country from what he described as bad leadership.
Tambuwal stated this at Geo-Gold hotel Awka on Wednesday while addressing party delegates.
He said he was not running for the office of the president for lack of job as he was currently the serving governor of Sokoto state but decided to intervene due to the situation in the country and that his commitment to emancipate Nigeria from bad leadership could not be over-stressed.
Tambuwal told Anambra PDP delegates that if given the mandate of the party at the party’s forthcoming convention and if elected president thereafter, he would ensure that states and local governments received more money from the federal government to run their affairs without interference.
The presidential aspirant noted that it was incumbent on the nation to have a president who understands the tenets of democracy; one who is not only a democrat in words but also in deeds and experience.
He said he has been involved in the development of Nigeria’s democracy in the last 20 years and that his experience in managing the House of Representatives as the Speaker, managing state government as Governor of Sokoto state as well as his closeness to the judiciary would be brought to bear on governance at the presidency.
Tambuwal assured Ndi-anambra and Nigerians in general that if elected president, he would revive as well as rejuvenate the security architecture of the country through recruiting more personnel and also deploy technological means in combating insurgency and all forms of criminalities in the country.
He however noted that some issues were peculiar to Anambra state as he observed that erosion was threatening to take over the very existence of the state pointing out that the challenge of erosion menace in Anambra was beyond any state government.
While assuring all and sundry that he would run an all-inclusive government if elected president, Tambuwal emphasized that he would address ecological problems as well as resolve all outstanding boundary issues between Kogi and Anambra state as well as review revenue sharing formular in the constitution to ensure justice, equity and fair play in resource allocation and control.
Meanwhile, former governorship candidate of the PDP in the 2017 Anambra Gubernatorial Elections Mr. Oseloka Henry Obaze, who spoke on behalf of others, stressed the need for the Vice-President to come from the South East zone particularly Anambra state to address long years of political alienation and forlorn.
