The lawmaker representing Amorka, Uli and Ihiala in the 6th Anambra State House of Assembly Hon. Chidi Livinus Udemadu, has said that the three major towns that constitute Ihiala 1 state constituency in Anambra state will benefit immensely from Governor Willie Obiano’s second term in office. Udemadu said the governor had been paying attention to communities in his constituency especially as it concerns the N20 Million Choose Your Project Initiative where communities in his constituency have had the luxury of instituting projects that have direct impact on them together with on-going road projects and other developmental programmes.
Udemadu, who spoke to our correspondent on the state of his constituency, explained that upon assumption of office, he had interactions with stakeholders of the three communities in Ihiala 1 constituency where he felt the pulse of the people to enable him to obtain firsthand information on the needs of his constituents. The interactive sessions according to him served as guide in the execution of constituency projects in Amorka, Uli and Ihiala respectively, stressing that his primary concern was to touch the lives of his people such that he would leave indelible impressions in their hearts for posterity sake.
Apart from the governor’s interventions in road construction and other projects, Udemadu noted that as the member representing the constituency, he revamped Community High School Amorka where the students were hitherto not writing West African Examination Council (WAEC) due to management issues. He disclosed that he waded into the situation and restored WAEC examination in the school pointing out that he also gave out scholarship schemes to some indigent students to enable them to carry on with their educational pursuit.
Again, the lawmaker said that he controlled flood at Obiokpu primary school Amorka where he built a bridge to enable school children to find their way home instead of accessing other communities to get home due to the sorry state of the road whenever it rained. The lawmaker also pointed out that Amorka community had clamoured earnestly for a police post in the area to checkmate crime and criminality. This however was one of the projects he executed in his community Amorka by building a standard police station in the area thereby chasing hoodlums away.
The lawmaker also noted that some of his humanitarian projects in Amorka include roofing of houses for the very poor and indigent, reactivation of water schemes for the provision of potable drinking water, payment of tuition fees for constituents, execution of agricultural programmes to mention a few. He added that his emergence had caused a reversal of fortune in Amorka where the peoples’ gratitude knew no bounds due to the institution of signature projects in the area. Be that as it may, in Uli community, Udemadu explained that his presence in the State House of Assembly had culminated into the building of a standard health centre and staff quarters at Ubahudara Uli aimed at providing medical and health services for his constituents at the grassroots.
According to him, the health facility was necessary because it was close to the community dwellers at Ubahudara and its environs. Apart from that, the lawmaker further disclosed that he renovated as well as refurbished two staff quarters at Eziala health centre Ihiala to make it accessible for the people; these community-driven projects, according to him, were products of a judicious application and deployment of constituency funds so as to ensure that each of the three communities of Ihiala 1 state constituency had a touch of his presence at the 6th assembly.
On road infrastructure, Udemadu reiterated the need for priority attention to be paid on construction of roads in Amorka, Uli and Ihiala assuring the people of his constituency that Governor Willie Obiano’s second tenure will usher in more road projects to address dearth of road infrastructure in the area. As the lawmaker representing the constituency in the 6th assembly, Udemadu said he had graded some roads in Ihiala, Ihite-Amamputu and Umuoma Uli with a view to open up the interiors and remote villages in Uli town. Apart from that, the lawmaker who functions also as the House of Assembly Committee Chairman on Rules and Business said he had moved motions for the construction of roads in Ihiala 1 state constituency and that some of the roads were captured in the 2018 budget.
According to him, Governor Willie Obiano had visited his constituency in his first tenure to inspect some roads under construction; he said the governor had assured his constituency of more dividends of his administration during the working visit recently. Udemadu also maintained that he moved a motion for the construction of Uzoakwa-Oseakwa road, Igwe Onyekaonwu’s road and a host of other roads in his constituency stressing that the state government was currently constructing some roads in Uli, Ihiala and other parts of his constituency.
The legal luminary who made it to the 6th Anambra State House of Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) said the party was in good stead for the 2019 general elections judging from the feat it recorded during the 2017 governorship elections as well as 2018 Anambra-Central Re-run elections. Udemadu said APGA had come to stay in Anambra state; urging all and sundry to pitch tent with it as it remains the only political party with true Igbo identity.
The lawmaker therefore assured his constituents of more dividends from his stewardship at the state assembly while looking forward to having their blessings and endorsements for a return to the State House of Assembly in 2019.
