I’ll Fulfill My Electoral Promises To Aguata — Anambra Lawmaker, Umeh

Raymond Ozoji, Awka

Hon. Cater Dike Nnamdi Umeh, the lawmaker representing Aguata one state constituency in the seventh Anambra State House of Assembly, says the promises he made to the people of Aguata one state constituency during his electioneering remain sacrosanct and that he will not renege on them as he aims at delivering quality and efficient representation at the state assembly.

The lawmaker reiterated his stance to maintain the pact with his people because of the overwhelming support they gave him which he said saw him to victory as well as his eventual emergence as the lawmaker representing Aguata one state constituency at the hallowed chambers of the state assembly.

Umeh, who spoke with a handful of journalists at the legislative complex Awka yesterday, said as part of efforts to maintain the social contract he entered into with his constituents, he was  currently setting up his constituency offices where representatives of each community would help collate pressing needs in accordance with the peculiarities of each community for onward presentation to the state assembly through motions and vehement cum persistent calls on the executive arm of government to respond accordingly to the needs of his constituents.

The lawmaker, who equally functions as a university lecturer, noted that he had quite a lot for his people in his work plan. He said, first and foremost, he would bring back morals and values for youths in Aguata one constituency through a reward system and in partnership with religious organisations and donor agencies respectively.

He said his intervention programmes would be unveiled in due course but in the meantime, he would draw the attention of the state commissioner for health to the poor state of health facilities in his constituency.

The lawmaker said that the structures were there but they were all empty even though he expressed optimism that the new commissioner for health whom he said was one of his constituents, would be very instrumental to equipping primary healthcare centres in the area to address challenges hindering access to medical services in his constituency.

He equally mentioned that roads were needed to be constructed in Aguata one for access into the interiors and hinterlands even though he took cognisance of the fact that Governor Willie Obiano was already constructing the road connecting Ugwuakpu to Achala and also the road from Achina to Orumba-South, thereby extolling the commendable strides of the governor in his constituency.
