More Nigerians have continued to express outrage and condemnation following the attack on Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo in his home community Isuofia which led to the unfortunate death of three of his security details and the abduction of Engr Emeka Ezenwannne, Commissioner for Public Utilities, Anambra State

The attack on Soludo which jolted the nation on Wednesday attracted severe condemnations by Nigerians on virtually all the platforms on the social and mainstream media

The majority of Nigerians while commenting on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp platforms deplored the general insecurity that has become so pervasive in the country. Most of them in their comments described the lastest attack on Soludo and the killing of his security aides by some gun men as ‘senseless, barbaric and reprehensive’.

One commentator, Mr Emma Okoli, on his Facebook page lamented the growing insecurity in Anambra state in recent time, and wondered why people resort to extreme violence and wanton killings of innocent people, especially security agents.

Mr Okoli said the attack on Soludo was despicable and an affront on all Ndi-Anambra and the civilized world.

“I am shocked and very sad that anyone could contemplate attacking Soludo. What offense has he committed to warrant this brazen affront on all Ndi-Anambra and the civilized world” Okoli asked rhetorically

Mr Maurice Ukpong, a communication expert on his twitter handle wrote:

“The attack on Prof Soludo that led to three policemen death in his village is very sad. Whatever is the reason behind it is unjustifiable. Soludo is a tested technocrat who have served this country at the highest level at CBN. He is good enough to rule Nigeria”

The Soludo Promoters Forum (SPF) also condemned the attack on Soludo. The group has declared a seven-day of mourning in honour of the three police officers who lost their lives during the attack

The League of Anambra Professionals, (LAP), in statement signed by its President, Mr Chijioke Okoli, SAN, condemned the attack, describing it as most unfortunate development and a brazen assault not only on the person of Prof Charles Soludo, the Isuofia community and Anambra State but on civilized human interaction. The group called on Soludo not to be intimidated at all by forces of darkness

Also a statement from the palace of HRH, Igwe (Col) C.A.O Muoghalu, Isu II N’Isuofia signed by the Secretary of the Palace, Mr Chukwujekwu Orajiuka said his Highness condemns the attack on Soludo and the desecration of the land of Isuofia by this brazen act. The statement read in part:

“His Highness mourns the gallant security personnel whose lives were cut short brutally; mourns the kidnapping of yet another high-profile son of Isuofia, Engr Emeka Ezenwanne, mourns the desecration of the common heritage of our people, Ezumezu Isuofia, mourns the bad intentions of the contrivers of this attack on our son, Prof Soludo”

From outside the shores of the country, Nigerians in the United States have also condemned the attack on Soludo. An association based in the USA, International Association of African Authors and Scholars (IAAAS), in an interview by the Executive Director, Mr Chinedum Igwe described the attack on Soludo as ‘reckless’ adding that it will further endear Soludo to the good people of Anambra state

Anambra Alliance (AA), a non partisan pressure group, in a joint statement signed by Mr Joe Anatune and Engr Victor Eze condemned the attack on Prof Soludo describing it as ‘barbaric and despicable’

The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) also expressed outrage on the attack on Soludo

In a press release by the National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Tex Okechukwu in Abuja, the party described the attack as cowardly, dastardly, callous, unwarranted and premeditated. The party wondered why any right-thinking person or persons should ever contemplate such a fruitless and unnecessary action against an innocent man who has contributed immensely to national development

Prof Soludo himself has during an interview with Channels Television said he has personally received several calls of solidarity and prayers from Nigerians across the country including the Governor of Anambra state, Chief Willie Obiano. In the interview Soludo expressed his deep gratitude to all for their prayers and concerns! Soludo also made a passionate appeal for the immediate release of Engr Emeka Ezenwanne, Commissioner of Public Utilities, Anambra State who was abducted during the attack

The attack on Soludo has indeed been described as one attack too many by Ndi-Anambra and Nigerians across the federation

While Ndi- Anambra and Nigerians await the final outcome of police investigations into the dastardly act, the people are appealing to the authorities not to spare anyone found culpable in this gruesome attack and such culprits must be made to face the full wrath of the law!
