*An Open Letter To Nigerians
By Stephen Nwabuko
Having sworn to uphold and defend the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria before assuming the reins of power as elected Governor of Kaduna state on May 29 2019.
Having sworn an oath to maintain the integrity of one united Nigeria through peaceful conduct in exercising the powers vested in him as the executive Governor of Kaduna state.
Having derided the office of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by issuing a counter state broadcast inciting the citizens of Kaduna state to disobey Presidential orders in respect of currency colour change policy.
Having directed Kaduna state indigenes to continue financial transactions in the old naira denominations without recourse to national currency change policy.
Having alleged that the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is planning to scuttle the general elections scheduled for 25th of February, 2023 and replace it with an Interim Government by fiat and without legislative back up.
Having accused the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed forces, that by his official actions and body language, is working against the success of the ruling APC.
I hereby state as follows:
1-That the actions and pronouncements of Governor Nasir El-Rufai are tantamount to treason and treasonable felony.
2-That Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s actions and pronouncements are injurious to the corporate existence of Nigeria.
3-That Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s actions and pronouncements are obstructive to the willful performance of Presidential duties bestowed constitutionally on President Mohammadu Buhari as enshrined in section 14 subsections: 1 & 2 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
I do hereby move and urge the Speaker of the Kaduna state House of Assembly as follows:
A-That impeachment proceedings be commenced forthwith against the office and person of Governor Ñasir El-Rufai for gross misconduct, insubordination and negligence of duty.
B-That a motion of urgent National importance be instituted on the floor of the Kaduna state house of Assembly with a view to expedite action in the proposed impeachment proceedings.
C-That the above articulated issues be regarded as the onus for the immediate commencement of the impeachment proceedings against Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
D-That the Kaduna state house of Assembly if currently on recess be recalled to do the needful to preserve the sanctity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
E-That this proposed impeachment proceedings be commenced, completed and enforced within twenty one days and before the end of this administration, effective from the twentieth day of February 2023.
These impeachment proceedings are to serve notice to future recurrence of state Governor’s assault on the authority of the sovereign state called Nigeria.
This action has become necessary against the backdrop of public officers hiding under immunity clause to disembowel the federation or act in a manner that is injurious to the corporate existence of Nigeria.
If Governor Nasir El-Rufai is not checkmated, he may incite people to violence if the outcome of the 2023 general elections goes against his wish.
I wish to bring this to the notice of the:
Nigeria Bar Association(N.B.A), as a concerned senior citizen of Nigeria.
