First information report from the sector command of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra says a motorist who violated traffic rules made an attempt to bribe an FRSC official on duty in a bid to escape punishment.
The sector commander CC Andrew Ayodele Kumapayi in the report as compiled by the Sector Public Education Officer RC Kamal Musa warned that FRSC does not condone misconduct amongst staff and that members of the public should not lure officials into acts capable of bringing the image of the corps to disrepute.
The organization’s first information report reads thus: “As part of the efforts to stem the tide of road traffic crashes on the highways, FRSC Anambra today held a mobile court at Nteje unit Command along Awka-Nteje-Onitsha Expressway.
“During the court proceedings at Nteje, a total of (33) Traffic Offenders were arrested and prosecuted including a driver who attempted to bribe Marshals on patrol. (31) Offenders convicted and (2) discharged accordingly. Total number of Offences committed (77), Most prevalent Offences were Failure to Install Speed Limit Device FSLD (14) and Number Plate Violation NPV (13).”
The Sector Commander however reiterated the dire need for motorists to drive safely and stay safe this Ember months while abiding by traffic regulations to avoid road traffic crashes as well as ensure safety on the highways.
