Former Nigeria’s Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, says it will not take him six months to name his cabinet if Nigerians elect him as their President.
In apparent reference to President Muhammadu Buhari who took more than six months to name his cabinet after his election in 2015, Atiku said in a Twitter post this evening, “If Nigerians elect me as their President, I will NOT take 6 months before naming my cabinet. My cabinet will be ready before May 29, 2019, if by the grace of God, you elect me. Our country needs a decisive leader to Get Nigeria Working Again. #LetsGetNigeriaWorkingAgain”.
Earlier today, Atiku had named former Governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi, as his running mate. This has engendered jubilation in different parts of Nigeria, especially Obi’s home state, Anambra.
Many prominent Nigerians have been sending their congratulatory messages to Obi.
In his message, Senator Ben Murray Bruce said, “Congrats my friend and brother, Mr. Peter Obi on your selection as vice presidential candidate to H.E @atiku. Without doubt, this is a solid team that will lift Nigeria to her rightly place amongst the assembly of nations.”
