Dr. Godwin Nnamdi Okafor, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Assembly member-elect for Awka-South 1 state constituency has said that his opponents in the just concluded state House of Assembly elections allegedly peddled propaganda against him in a bid to blindfold the electorate from supporting and voting him.
Okafor maintained that in spite of aspersions cast on him and all efforts made to thwart his second term aspiration, he triumphed over his ordeals and won the election with a landslide victory.
Speaking at King David hotel Awka on Tuesday where he hosted a victory party for his teeming supporters, the medical practitioner said he dedicated his electoral victory to God and to the entire people of Awka-South 1 state constituency.
He said despite the antics of his opponents, he was not deterred but concentrated on his grassroots works and in the end he came out victorious. The lawmaker disclosed that he initiated two significant bills in his first term in office and intends to improve upon them in the 7th assembly.
According to him, there was a propaganda peddled against him barely a week to the state assembly elections that he and the government of Anambra state allegedly sold Awka stadium.
He described the allegation as crazy, saying his constituents knew the truth and were able to thrash it away and voted according to their conscience which manifested in his landslide victory at the March 9th State House of Assembly polls.
