Obi Salutes Okonjo-Iweala At 70

The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi, has celebrated the Director General of the World Trade Organisation, Dr Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, as she marks her 70th birthday today.

In a congratulatory message on his X handle, Obi says he rejoices with and celebrates her for the very impactful contributions she has made to our nation and to the global community.

Obi said, “On the national level, she has served, among others, as a finance minister of the nation, where she immensely contributed to improving Nigeria’s financial stability and encouraged fiscal discipline and transparency through her anti-corruption campaigns.

“On the global stage, she stands tall as the first woman and the first African to head the WTO. She has continued to enjoy the trust and confidence of governments around the world due to her honesty, integrity and commitment to the advancement of the cause of humanity.

“Today, she stands as a symbol of success and role model to many youths, inspiring them unto greater achievements, while contributing to the nation. May God grant her more healthy and fruitful years as she continues to contribute to a better nation and humanity.”
