The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment Mr. C.Don Adinuba has said that Governor Willie Obiano has entrenched what he described as political ecumenism in Anambra as evidently manifested in the harmonious inter-party relations that exist among the various political parties.
Adinuba said rather than blacklist nor balcanise political parties in the state, the governor chose to unite the different political parties for the smooth running of the state.
The commissioner, who spoke in an exclusive interview with our correspondent in Awka, stated that “we conducted a major election in 2017 and not one single incident of violence before, during and after the elections. No other state in Nigeria has this record.”
He said Anambra was not only the most peaceful state in Nigeria but also the most socially cohesive, stressing that there was no form of discrimination whatsoever in Obiano’s government.
According to him, “At the inauguration of Governor Willie Obiano’s second term, we saw the VIP seats practically overtaken by the members of the so-called opposition parties.” He said the likes of Senators Andy Uba, Uche Ekwunife, Ben Ndi Obi as well as some other candidates who ran against the governor in the 2017 gubernatorial polls including the candidate of PPA Mr.Godwin Chukwunenye Ezeemo, all graced Obiano’s second term inauguration with their esteemed presence.
The commissioner further explained that there was no state in the country where people who ran against the governor attended his inauguration to show solidarity adding that it was only Anambra state that such thing ever happened.
Adinuba also noted, “This is the same state where members of the same political party would kidnap a sitting governor over political differences; the same state where some politicians would hire hooligans to carry out mayhem for a whole three days destroying the House of Assembly, Government House, the Judicial complex, ABS Radio and Television stations, to mention a few.”
The commissioner continued saying, “Today people from different political parties are in solidarity with the governor. The governor does not have any form of bitterness nor discrimination. We are making fantastic progress in all fronts and because of the high level of peace, Anambra has become synonymous with excellence within five years.”
He said no community in Anambra state could deny effective government presence; that Governor Willie Obiano’s N20m community project scheme has taken root in all the 179 communities in the state even as he noted that despite being the only state that collects the least allocation from the federation accounts, government doesn’t owe workers’ salaries and other benefits.
The commissioner explained that the governor would not rest on his laurels but increase the speed of his infrastructural development drive in order to make a monumental difference in the governance and administration of Anambra state.
