Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has been described as a governor who is not interested in subverting public money but deploys such funds for the welfare and well-being of the citizenry.

Governor Obiano was equally described as one not interested in building empires as well as acquiring property everywhere but solely concerned about the delivery of democracy dividends and good governance to the people of Anambra state.

Speaking with our correspondent in Awka on Monday while doing a comparative analysis of the present and past administrations in Anambra as the state recently clocked 27, out-going chairman of Orumba-North council area Hon. Emeka Aforka stated that the state under the incumbent governor has recorded more tangible achievements in investment and infrastructure.

Aforka recalled that Anambra state transited from military dictatorship to civil rule thereby having Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife as first civilian governor whom he said was the harbinger of development in the state.

He said thereafter ex-Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju took over the mantle of leadership but didn’t meet the expectations of Ndi-Anambra.

He also said that the administration of Dr. Chris Ngige though short-lived, was the pathfinder to infrastructural development in Anambra. He said the former governor’s few months reign in office saw the construction of some roads that still stood the test of time.

According to him,  the administration of former Governor Peter Obi catapulted Anambra state to a higher level of human and infrastructural development. He said upon the recovery of his stolen mandate through the instrumentality of the Nigerian judiciary, ex-governor Peter Obi swung into action and further developed the state economy simultaneously.

Aforka therefore observed that in the foregoing cycle of economic development in Anambra state, the administration of Chief Willie Obiano has recorded more landmark achievements.

The out-going chairman of Orumba-North council area said Governor Willie Obiano has no evil intentions whatsoever to plunge Anambra into the abyss but to strive to provide good leadership and directions stressing that since he came on board, the governor has paid pensions and gratuities to retirees of the state civil service.

Aforka also posited that Governor Obiano has maintained prompt payment of workers’ salaries and incentives pointing out that since the inception of the Obiano administration, there has never been any case of civil unrest due to the harmonious working relationship between the civil servants and the Anambra state government.

Aforka however opined that before Obiano became governor, Anambra was always in the bad news following spate of insecurity and other social vices inimical to the growth of the economy but according to him, Obiano mounted the saddle and restored the confidence of the people in governance as well as made them return home to invest in their home state.
