Osumenyi community in Nnewi-South local government area of Anambra state has taken delivery of Governor Willie Obiano’s Covid-19 palliatives as part of measures to ameliorate the conditions of the rural poor in the area.
Osumenyi Youth Council led by the president, Dr. Charles Ebulue, received bags of rice and other items for the town as the relief materials were intended to reduce the burden of hardship on those at the countryside amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
Distributing the palliatives to the beneficiaries at Umuka village Osumenyi, Chairman of Osumenyi Caretaker Committee Chief Elobuike Victor Ojiego and other executives ensured that the beneficiaries who came from the 12 villages of the community got the relief materials and that none was shortchanged during the distribution of the palliatives.
Speaking on the governor’s philanthropy and gesture, Dr. Charles Ebulue said that the people of Osumenyi Community were grateful to the governor for the consumeables he gave them especially at this critical time of harsh economic realities brought upon the people by the current public health crisis ravaging the entire globe. He said that the Palliatives would help alleviate hunger and sufferings of the rural dwellers.
According to him, “The Osumenyi Youth Council received 400 Bags of 10Kg rice for Osumenyi Town under the supervision of the Chairman of Osumenyi Caretaker Committee Chief Elobuike Victor Ojiego and the Woman Leader Mrs Ezeaba from Anambra State courtesy of our Action Governor, His Excellency Chief Dr. Willie Obiano.
“The rice was then equitably distributed among the 12 villages that make up Osumenyi Town under the watchful eyes of the Representatives of the Anambra State Project Management and Monitoring Officer (PMMO) ably led by Hon. Engr. Franny Okafor-Ezendu.
“The Osumenyi Youth Council also ceased the opportunity to invite the members of Society for Public Health Practitioners of Nigeria (SPHPN), Anambra State Chapter led by Dr Justins Okoli to educate the Youths of the town about COVID-19 pandemic and its preventive guidelines.
“There were practical demonstration of wearing of face masks, proper hand washing techniques and use of hand sanitizers by Nurse Anigbogu Cynthia.
“Lecture on Drug Misuse during COVID-19 Pandemic was delivered by Nurse Ifeanyi Chinyere while Nurse Ezeudenwa handled Community Control on COVID-19.
“Free face masks were shared among the Osumenyi Youths by SPHPN members.
“We appreciate forthrightness of the National President of ASATU Youth, Hon. Patrick Aghamba who have been harmonising the activities of the Youth in Anambra State.
“We thank the Osumenyi Town Caretaker Committee team ably led by the Chairman Chief Elobuike Victor Ojiego, who is a visionary bridge builder in piloting the affairs of Osumenyi in peace and harmony.
“Osumenyi Youth Council unalloyed support goes to His Excellency, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano, the Action Governor of Anambra State for rescuing the less privileged Youths of Anambra State in these trying times of lockdown and COVID-19 pandemic.
“We pray that God strengthens him with more good health of mind and body in order to continue to lead his people well,” he stated.
Meanwhile people from Ojiaku, Ojidi, Amihe, Amakaomu, Umumam, Obiofia, Okofia, Obiuno and some other villages in Osumenyi town who benefited from Governor Willie Obiano’s Covid19 Palliatives expressed profound gratitude to him, as they unanimously concurred that the palliatives were timely response to their basic and fundamental needs in the face of the coronavirus global health crisis.
