Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has said that plans are underway to send some newly appointed commissioners to Harvard Business School in the United States of America (USA) to sharpen their managerial and administrative skills for optimum service delivery.
Anambra State Head of Service Barr. Harry Udu who gave a hint of the governor’s capacity building programmes for workers in the state this year on Monday in Awka during a session with a team of journalists, also disclosed that permanent secretaries and the Head of Service would be sent to the Lagos Business School for training too.
The Head of Service further disclosed that the state governor had organised a retreat for the new appointees to acquaint them with their new working environment, noting that it was important that the appointees understood the workings of the civil service. He added that he was quite satisfied that the new appointees were on sound footing to take-off in their new assignments.
He was also of the opinion that the governor’s promise of salary review still subsists pointing out that a committee was currently negotiating the new minimum wage nationwide and that the state awaits the recommendations of the new minimum wage to enable it to do the needful.
